Responsible tourism: Loire Valley walking holiday in France, castles to castles
The Loire Valley is the biggest area in France ever to be included in UNESCOs world heritage list. The Loire Valley conjures up a dreamlike landscape of sumptuous chateaux and cathedrals along the Loire, the region is one of the most natural in France, with lot forests, rivers (the Loire is the longest river in France), lakes and green landscapes. In this area, the wild is essential for the tourism and the local culture.
We avail of a Travellers Code of Conduct and all our documents are printed on recycled paper. Our staffs also follow an Environmental policy (e.g: only using hard copies when necessary or switching off the lights where the areas are not in used.)
Last but not least, as hikers by passion, we have a strong ethic about respecting the places we go to and their environment, either for business or personally (e.g: not leaving any rubbish behind us during a day walk or using reusable water containers), and we encourage our guests to act responsibly while traveling.
This interest in the scenic qualities of the Valley and its monuments encouraged efforts to preserve the heritage of the landscape, in the form of its monuments, its towns, its rural structure, it nature and gastronomy.
We are committed to work with local hotels and restaurants only. Actually, we personally know each person we deal with as we go on ground to tailor make these holidays for you. Loire Valley and modern pilgrim will get a chance to embrace this well alive culture as you walk from castles to castles at your own pace. Along the Loire valley, you will discover any local crafts and vineyards, respecting them countryside and environment. In this state, through the history and the heritage, the culture has a primordial impact. In the bigger place with Blois as the villages with Chenonceau, you will also get a chance to interact with local people, most of them being from the region for generations and keen to share information about their land. A land of tradition which still hosts many typical houses (historical building), castles and medieval churches, but also a rich wildlife in the natural park. To design this walking holiday, we have personally been on ground and have met the local people we deal with, from the local hotel owners, not to forget the taxi driver who will transfer your luggage daily.
