How this holiday makes a difference
Community
For every booking made through us a donation goes towards The Born Free Foundations community based project aimed towards solving this ongoing conflict between wild life and residential areas that boarder Kenya’s national parks. If requested we are happy to send you updates informing you of how we have helped to fund a community based project.
We encourage and promote active safari holidays created to inspire and encourage cultural awareness and support the community. Our tours include local excursions where Kenyans/Tanzania’s directly benefit such as local craft markets, workshops, open air food markets, cultural visits etc.
Environment
We have a written environmental policy in regards to water, land, energy and waste which is adhered to by our suppliers.
When on safari we never drive off-road, this severely damages the habitat. When viewing wildlife our drivers keep to a minimum distance of 20 meters and pull to the side of the road so as to allow others to pass. We Strive to create and carry out waste management initiatives such as responsible purchasing and recycling (plastic bags, paper, bottles, glass etc) at head office and also on safari (responsibly dispose of any client litter).
We use Climate Care’s calculator to work out how many tonnes of CO2 our safari activities produce and we pay Climate Care to reduce the equivalent amount of CO2 in another part of the world by investing that money into emission reduction projects. So when a client buys our safari holiday we buy a tonne of carbon from Climate Care’s emission reduction portfolio and in turn a tonne will be reduced through their projects. The money is used to replace fuel-hungry inefficient technologies with low carbon efficient technologies in developing countries. It helps spread the adoption of low carbon technologies (many of which are award-winning) and improves the quality of life for communities and individuals alike.
You will receive a Climate Care certificate showing their emission reduction, as well as reduction tips to help you to continue reducing where possible at home.
