We are committed to an eco tourism ethic that protects the natural environment, conserves the rich biodiversity, cultural heritage and generates benefits for local communities.
Community
We support community based tourism by getting involved in development of Himalayan Home stays, using local guides to help local people generate income from tourism activities in their areas and thereby helping them to increase their stake in conserving wildlife.
We have very carefully handpicked our ground handling agent from the local area to carry out this tour. They are also a member of LNT (leave no Trace) and Wilderness Aid certified. While our guests travel with us we use 4% of the total tour costs in humanitarian activities like helping a school in the remote areas of Ladakh. We visit the schools and do what is needed in making the facilities better after making a thorough research of what they need. We also sometimes use this fund to donate it to Dar-Ul-Fazl Children’s home, Manali which is a home for orphans and poor Ladakhi students.
We also make our guests visit the local communities and make their own research of what can be done for them. We get the feedback from our clients and get involved in building the welfare of the society in various ways as per the feedback from our guests. We later conduct courses of community first response. (First Aid) if needed.
We have a policy of employment of local staff. All our staff are local people born and brought up in Ladakh. We also are very much aware of the local culture and always provide our guest with basic culture guide lines, so that the guest can have a better relationship with the community while on tour. We have a Fair Wage Policy and pay our staff the prescribed govt wages apart from other incentive and benefits.
We also support community based tourism by getting involved in development of Himalayan Home stays, using local guides to help local people generate income from tourism activities in their areas and thereby helping them to increase their stake in conserving wildlife. Eg. While in the on tour our local guide with our interested guests would walk along and interact with the local people teaching them the basic guide lines of LNT.
We only use locally run accommodation for our guests. All facilities and services are locally provided. In Ladakh only Ladakhi’s can run businesses. The hotels we use are run by the local Ladakhi families.
Maximum group size is 12 to minimize impact and maximize the benefit to the members – avoiding the feeling of herding of large groups and enables good contact with local staff and facility providers to interact and exchange
Environment
For this trip we have hand picked a operator who is of local origin and member of LNT (leave no Trace) and Wilderness Aid certified. While our guests travel in Ladakh and while visiting different communities we have our clients feed back of the community in various ways so we can act on the issues we find in developing the communities. We also have a form which we give to guest to take along and study the community. They fill and give us the form back after which we check the area where we can later conduct courses of community first response. (First Aid) if needed.
We also are very much aware of the local culture and always provide our guest with basic culture guide lines, so that the guest can have a better relationship with the community while on tour.
Environmental Policy which supports local economy and protects the environment: some examples here include the use of MSR water filters to avoid consumption of plastic bottles, all members take a “leave no trace” bag into the mountains to ensure we remove all rubbish we create. We have a yearly tour for volunteers to one destination in Ladakh for collection of rubbish after the main season

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
