How this holiday makes a difference

The Journey
We travel in small groups to minimise our impact on the environment and local culture. This trip is operated in country by a Nepalese company which provides employment for local people and supports its own local projects.

Accommodation is in small locally owned tea houses throughout this trip providing a business for local people in this remote region. Your meals will also be taken in tea houses creating revenue for these businesses. Your local guide and trek staff are all Nepalese and will travel with you through out the trip. The porters we use are well treated in terms of loads they carry and pay they receive. They are provided with appropriate clothing for the trek. We encourage clients to use boiled water rather than using bottled water.

The Volunteer Projects
We work directly with local NGOs and Community based organisations, taking great care to select the organisations we partner with always making sure there is a real need for volunteers and the work that volunteers do will make a difference to the local community.

We work hard with the selected local partner organisations to develop roles for the volunteers focusing on areas where real difference can be to help the organisations meet their objectives. Through a dedicated team of local managers we constantly monitor the progress that is made through the volunteer programme and constantly review the thrust of our volunteer programmes to help local communities

Our projects in Nepal are all teaching based and can be taken in Kathmandu or Country schools – or a combination of both. You will be placed in the project that suits your skills and needs you most.

Foundation
We have our own foundation, a registered charity, which our travellers and volunteers can join us in supporting.

Aims of the foundation are:
The advancement of education, the relief of poverty and sickness and the preservation and protection of good health through the provision of financial assistance, volunteers and such other forms of support as the council members may from time to time determine.

The Foundation supports local communities by:
- Making grants to individuals

- Making grants to organisations

- Providing other finance

- Providing human resources

- Providing buildings / facilities / open space

Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
