Tuscany self guided walking holiday, Italy
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
With its rolling hills and landscape, Tuscany is full of charm and beauty all of which is waiting for you to discover. As mentioned earlier, our Walking holiday through Tuscany follows the ancient Via Francigena. In 1994 the Via Francigena was designated a European Cultural Route by the Council of Europe. In November 2009 the Italian government launched a project to recover the Italian leg of it. The object of the plan is to recover the entire route (disjointed parts of which are already signposted) “not only in spiritual and religious terms but also in terms of the environment, architecture, culture, history, wine and cuisine and sport.” The initiative was promoted by the Region of Tuscany, which hosts 400km of the Via, and which presented a plan detailing the low environmental impact infrastructures to be created. The plan will be shared with other local authorities located along the route as an encouragement to carry out similar recovery work.
By discovering the area in an environment-friendly manner (walking), you will have plenty of time to enjoy the natural wonders along Le Puy Route, while minimizing the impacts on the surrounding nature.
We avail of a Travelers Code of Conduct and all our documents are printed on recycled paper.
Our staff also follows an Environmental policy (e.g: only using hard copies when necessary or switching off the lights where the areas are not in used.)
Last but not least, as hikers by passion, we have a strong ethic about respecting the places we go to and their environment, either for business or personally (e.g: not leaving any rubbish behind us during a day walk or using reusable water containers), and we encourage our guests to act responsibly while traveling.

Our walking holiday will lead you through small and typical villages where time seems to have stopped at the time the Italian language was born in this region! Our trail follow an ancient pilgrim route to Rome, known as Via Francigena, and local people love telling stories about ancient times to whoever is keen to listen.
We are committed to work with local hotels and restaurants only. Actually, we personally know each person we deal with as we go on ground to tailor make these holidays for you.
As our Tuscany walking holiday runs through some rural area, you will stay as much as possible in family-run hotels or guesthouses, giving you a chance to interact with local people, some of them have been living in the region for generations and will be pleased to share with you bits and pieces of their culture. Gastronomy is a big part of it, and restaurants cook meals from local products only, and local products in Italy also means regional wines or cheese of course
Every day, your luggage will be brought from hotel to hotel by Luca or Dante, our local transporters, fully dedicated to deliver their best services in a friendly yet professional manner.
By dealing directly with local professionals, we also ensure them maximum benefits.
