Amalfi Coast walking holidays in Italy, self guided
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
Thanks to its incontestable beauty and the uniqueness of its natural landscape, the Amalfi Coast was declared one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1997. When giving its decision, the committee said the “Costiera Amalfita” was “an outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, with exceptional cultural and natural scenic values resulting from its dramatic topography and historical evolution.” By being added to UNESCO World Heritage listing, the Amalfi coast benefits of strict preservations plans, both culturally and environmentally.
By discovering the area in an environment-friendly manner (walking), you will have plenty of time to enjoy the natural wonders along Le Puy Route, while minimizing the impacts on the surrounding nature.
We avail of a Travelers Code of Conduct and all our documents are printed on recycled paper. Our staff also follows an Environmental policy (e.g: only using hard copies when necessary or switching off the lights where the areas are not in used.)
Community
The uniqueness of Amalfi Coast resides in the fact that it is geographically sets in both stunning mountainous and coastal landscapes and therefore expect to meet quite a lot of both farmers and fishermen. They also provide hotels and restaurants with fresh and local products, such as Amalfian lemons, Mediterranean fish and of course, the exquisite local vine. So yes, like everywhere in Italy, gastronomy is a big part of the local culture!
