How this holiday makes a difference

Environment

The Swiss Valais hosts fifty one summits of over 4000m of the Alps and 680 glaciers representing a third of the glaciers of the entire Alps range. Amongst them is Aletsch Glacier, the longest and widest glacier in Europe and listed as a UNESCO Worldwide Heritage since 2001. It therefore benefits of a strict environmental protection.

The Swiss Valais benefits of a particular climate, marked by a large sunlight coverage, both on winter and summer. This climate of alpine type varies throughout the Rhone Valley which enables him to be a wine region. The Alps also host an incredible wildlife and during the hike, you will get a chance to observe bouquetins or Alpine Ibexes (wild goats), chamois, marmots, eagles and other raptors in their natural habitat.

By discovering the area in an environment-friendly manner (walking), you will have plenty of time to enjoy the natural wonders along the Tour du Mont Blanc trails, while minimizing the impacts on the surrounding nature.

We avail of a Travellers Code of Conduct and all our documents are printed on recycled paper. Our staff also follows an Environmental policy (e.g: only using hard copies when necessary or switching off the lights where the areas are not in used.)

Last but not least, as hikers by passion, we have a strong ethic about respecting the places we go to and their environment, either for business or personally (e.g: not leaving any rubbish behind us during a day walk or using reusable water containers), and we encourage our guests to act responsibly while travelling.

Community

We are commited to work with local hotels and restaurants only. Actually, we personally know each person we deal with as we go on ground to tailor make these holidays for you.

Our walking holidays runs through the Swiss Alps, therefore you will stay in family-run hotels following the Alps hospitality tradition, giving you a chance to interact with local people, most of them have been living in the region for generations and will be pleased to share with you bits and pieces of their culture. Hiking plays a big part of the local life and you will meet local people hiking around there too and keen to share their experience and knowledge of their mountains.

Discover the Valais cuisine: its raclette, the tomato fondue, assiette valaisanne (ham, delicatessen, cheese), and of course its wine and cognacs.

To design this tailor made walking holiday, we have personally been on ground and have met the local people we deal with, from to the local hotel owners like the nice family Richer on the Swiss side, not to forget the taxi driver who will transfer your luggage daily.

By dealing directly with local professionals, we also ensure them maximum benefits.

Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
