Environment
Our ground partner in the Emirates has a company environmental policy, which covers its office and operational activities and seeks to minimise the impact of those activities on the environment, through recycling and efficient use of transport. It also has social policy of recruiting local office staff and guides where possible. We seek to ensure that the local businesses we work with have a strong ethical policy in terms of their operation and look to source locally, reduce environmental impacts and follow ethical employment policies.
Cross cultural understanding
One of the key elements of this experience is the Cultural Awareness Session, hosted by a famous Emirati National from Abu Dhabi, who has chosen to live his life differently than most. He's an author, cultural consultant, professional speaker and TV show host. The session will entail an interactive presentation or discussion, providing an insight on the history and background of the United Arab Emirates. You will get to understand the social codes of the Arabian Gulf while building bridges between cultures. Learn more about Ramadan, why it is important, why Muslims fast and what are the benefits of fasting.
This is part of a broader programme of cross cultural understanding of the Emirati culture and the Muslim faith that we are promoting within an enjoyable holiday experience. We are working with our local partners in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman to deliver these unique, enjoyable and inspiring cultural insights. The Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding (SMCCU) is a core part of this initiative.
Community
The Al Eshan Medical and Charity Centre is one of the highlights of our trip. Al Eshan is a non-profit charity organization, based in Ajman, dedicated to serve the poor and distressed with monthly and daily food rations, new and/or used home appliances, furniture and personal items. Giving, helping and doing charity is a vital part of Ramadan in the community. On this programme, you will have the opportunity to learn more about that aspect of Ramadan and will be participating in the food distribution program.
Ajman does not have natural resources of its own, and there are many families that cannot afford medical care. In addition to these services, Al Eshan grants credit to single mothers, who have been widowed or abandoned by their husbands. You will get the opportunity to provide food to underprivileged people. A simple Iftar will be enjoyed in the Charity Centre with hundreds of people. All proceeds of the dinner will be donated to the Al Eshan Charity Centre.
