How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
There are small domestic animals kept at the farm, the farm is equipped with its own vegetation wastewater plant, solar panels, photovoltaic cells. Natural building materials were used for the farmhouse renovation. The environmentally friendly technologies as well as the overall focus of the centre put ecology and the environment first in the centre’s operation. There are of course sorted waste bins located within the entire complex, heating is ensured by a heat pump.
Your meals will be prepared from local groceries. There is a small organic products shop selling regional products like the Czech honey, organic apple juice, hand-made toys and other products. Wine lovers will enjoy a small wine cellar offering Moravian wines. In our agency we also try to limit the use of car transportation as much as possible, we prefer trains and other means of public transport.
Community
The renovated farmhouse in Oucmanice where you will be accommodated has a long tradition. By renovating and altering it into an ecology centre three years ago, new jobs were created for instructors and service staff. The centre also educates local people so that they can better understand why to protect the environment; its instructors are successful in “exploding” the myths of waste treatment and preventing waste burning in home stoves. The centre provides the local community with educational activities, jobs and lectures for the public. Together we help protect the local environment, built nature and tourist paths and advocate positive and protective attitude towards domestic and wild fauna and flora.
During your trips you will meet and support local people by using their services and buying their products. The guide is local as well as all the suppliers. We choose and recommend locally owned tried restaurants, and souvenir shops are either part of the local craftsmen’s workshops, or they are owned by local people. The guides are local; they were either born in this region, or have been living there for many years. The entrance fees paid at historical sites are part of the income sources used for their conservation; this is a usual source of income for the historical sites in the Czech Republic.
You will have an opportunity to support small local craftsmen by visiting their workshops and buying their traditional products. You can also join the nature conservation experts and help them build a wild animal rescue station. If you like, you can visit a typical country family and learn about living in the Czech countryside.
