How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We choose responsible suppliers to provide transportation, lodging and other services to our passengers, with the least negative impact on the environment. The interpretation of the forest from the Guarani vision seeks to achieve greater contact with nature and awareness of their care. Our hotel in Buenos Aires has adopted many environmentally friendly initiatives, detailed below.
Vertical Gardens, Energy Saving Windows, Energy Saving Lights, and Ecological Decorative Materials: the wood used is Carolina Pine. This is an American tree certified by the FSC (forest stewardship council) which assures sustainable forest resources. Furthermore, some furniture in the rooms are made with Kraft paper, which is a hand-woven, natural fibre. This is a hotel with 100% Organic Amenities: amenities are packaged in reusable, refillable bottles to reduce the use of plastic. All ecofriendly pencils come from planted wood certified by the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). They are made with high quality raw materials, nontoxic and totally safe for use by children. Other helpful features include recycling paper, biodegradable cleaning products, use of organic products and recyclable glass bottles whenever possible, potted plants are used to avoid cutting fresh flowers.
Community
We work in partnership with the charities and local host communities to design our tours and journeys around the country. We select institutions and organisations which have a transforming and innovative mission to give solutions to social and economic problems that affect their communities. We introduce our guests to local artists, productive projects and social cooperatives, promoting fair-trade. All of the projects that are included in our tours and trips find in responsible tourism another fundraising source. As part of our commitment, we donate 5% of our profits to the communities and social projects we work with and choose the charities’ production over regular providers whenever possible.
Our Responsible City Tour in Buenos Aires supports the sustainable development of the organisations which work for the improvement of life conditions of La Boca inhabitants. Thanks to the Tango Tour, you support clubs and cultural district centers whose vulnerable survival depends on tiny donations that members pay every month. Their cultural and social mission is essential in the district and his habitant’s lives. The visits to these clubs bring a new way to look Tango and value the identity and the mission of these places often invisible for many people. Furthermore, thanks to the consumption in the bars you contribute to their economical support. The trip to Mendoza contributes to value the women's work, to enable young people to find channels of professional development and to stop migration flows that are depopulating the countryside, causing the loss of cultural traditions at rural settlements.
The visit to the Guarani community in Iguassu contributes to a project which was designed to solve the high unemployment, illiteracy, weakening of cultural identity and vulnerability in the Mbyá-Guaraní community. Responsible travellers' visits serve to preserve the forest and the "Nande Reko" (the way of being and living) from the legendary Guarani community. The exchange between different cultures promotes respect and understanding. Our guides are local guides and when the meals are included we eat in local restaurants or local families serving locally grown produce.
