UK office:
It all starts at home so we have first worked to reduce our carbon footprint in our UK offices. Through energy conservation measures and recycling policies in place, we are proud to be actively reducing the waste produced and our impact on the environment. We support various projects all over the world to try and give something back to the places we visit.
Leaders & local suppliers:
We have an excellent long-term relationship with the local operator who employ and train all leaders. We provide refresher training with a focus on responsible tourism, so our local leaders can educate our clients locally on helping to preserve the way of life in their area.
All guides and drivers used on the trip are local, and the accommodation is generally small and family run. Visiting in the winter is particularly important as tourism is very rare in the mountainous regions during these months and guiding work is hard to come by outside of summer months. Our local partners in Bosnia are extremely sensitive to responsible tourism and have gone out of their way to help to promote tourism in remote villages. They have assisted some local families in creating the guesthouse accommodation that we use in Umoljani and encouraged shepherds to host our groups at their traditional accommodation. This brings a useful form of income in the winter as well as helping to protect their traditional heritage and lifestyle.
Group size:
We operate small group tours that have a low impact on the communities we visit and we always ensure our operations do not disrupt or lead to the displacement of local people. This allows us to stay in unique and characterful accommodation that would not have benefitted from tourism due to their limited size.
Activity:
Our selection of alternative winter activities seeks to make the most of the natural environment in its pristine state, rather than changing it. Snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and dogsledding are best suited to remote wilderness areas and the development of these alternatives is key to the long-term survival of many mountain communities.
This small group adventure holiday company offers winter holidays with a difference. From dogsledding through remote wilderness in the Arctic to snowshoeing on an active volcano, if you are looking for a special winter holiday you need look no further. Many of their guides are local and fully trained which means they have exceptional knowledge of their destination and for all winter is a passion. With expertise in cross-country skiing, they have holidays throughout Europe and Scandinavia. So if you fancy building your own igloo, climbing an ice waterfall or simply snowshoeing through sparkling snow-laden forests then this is the company for you.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
