Group activity holiday in Ireland
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
All our activities are designed to have minimal impact on the environment. All of our guides and suppliers work to this ethos. Our activities include walking, kayaking, sailing and wind-surfing – all low carbon activities with little strain on the water and land environments. Our walking guides keep to well known trails and help to maintain the diversity of the natural surroundings by promoting responsible behaviour and preventing the spread of invasive species of plant or animal. We use minimum packaging for lunches and all groups leave no trace. We encourage our guests to arrive to Mayo by train and ferry.
The lodge is run in a responsible way and aims to minimise its impact on the environment. The structure itself makes use of significant insulation as well as solar gain through the large south facing windows. A wood burning stove ensures that the energy used is renewable and there are numerous facilities for recycling materials and waste. Bicycles are also available for guests to use.
Community
This holiday supports local communities in Mayo Ireland. The Lodge is owned by a family and they in turn support local suppliers and employment. Our activity providers are also independent and so by taking this holiday you will be supporting their employment. We encourage our guests to seek local produce whilst holidaying in Ireland. This includes providing details of producers and retailers which we think provide quality food and the money goes into supporting them.
