This classic Aussie adventure up the east coast offers plenty of chances for interaction with locals and also cuts down on emissions by taking advantage of public transportation; mainly buses and trains. Trains offer a great chance to see the Australian landscape that one misses when flying far above. It also offers the chance for local interaction and a chance to share stories of your travels with locals and other travellers alike.
Throughout the trip, there are opportunities to buy crafts and goods from local merchants. Most art galleries in Byron Bay are locally owned and offer some great deals on traditional and modern paintings. We can also recommend some terrific locally owned restaurants in Sydney, Brisbane, and Cairns to support the local economy. Sydney is truly a melting pot of cultures from all over the world, including Greek, Lebanese, Turkish, and Indian. Many people settled in this metropolis and opened up local eateries, which offer tasty, filling food at value prices.
While visiting Fraser Island, a World Heritage listed site, we emphasize the fragility of the environment and ask you to please pack out any trash or find proper receptacles for disposal. While on the island, we advise that passengers use an empty film canister for cigarette butts and strive to minimize the use of plastic bags. Also, the island is home to one of the last remaining pure-bred dingo populations. They should be admired from afar but not approached and never fed. This could potentially upset the natural behaviour of these animals and could encourage them to come even closer to humans, which is dangerous for the entire group.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
