Following independence from the Soviet Union, Tajikstan’s local economy needed urgent assistance after the loss of its interior tourism.
Established in 1999 our partner, based in Duschanbe, set out to help the local economy back on its feet and possesses extensive local knowledge. They are committed to long-term social improvement ensuring that by using local people, the community sees its fair share of the benefits from tourism.
For the purpose of the trips, supplies are purchased locally where possible, and the use of packaged goods is avoided. We believe in fair wages and good working conditions. The local guides have been taught awareness of the natural environment and they strive to limit the impact on areas visited.
Our colleagues assist a local project managed by Tajiks, to avoid long-term dependence on outside aid and provide Tajiks with the necessary skills and confidence to help themselves.
The charity, called CADA (Central Asian Development Agency), has many goals, among them are; the education of women and girls, particularly on issues of their and their family’s health; annual Summer camps for local children; a donkey farm to help with transportation and generate income; local women are involved in the production of handicrafts and encouraged to run their own enterprises. By travelling with us, you will be helping to ensure these important programs continue to develop.
All our trips are operated and planned in line with PATA and Green Globe 21 principles. We expect our clients to be committed to sustainable tourism.
We offer you the chance to contribute to Climate Care, from £12 per person.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
