How Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh holiday makes a difference

It is more important than ever to minimise our impact on the environment and the communities we visit.

Travellers are briefed on the importance of respecting local sensitivities and not leaving behind litter and wearing appropriate dress. We use small local hotels, eat in local restaurants, and shop for food, drinks and souvenirs in small villages and local markets thus supporting the local economy. We have also developed relationships with many of the villagers we meet along the way and travellers are encouraged to buy handicrafts directly from the villagers themselves.

We also use local transport to really experience everyday life in a developing country. We ensure that the money spent on transportation goes to the local infrastructure. Our travellers also have the opportunity to help the villagers materially, by purchasing authentic hand-made clothes and handicrafts from them.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The whole experience.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Choose the hotels yourself, and ask their for their opinion.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Don't really know about that. But the guides and drives were from each area, and gave the feeling of being normal locals (versus the westernized guides I saw around).

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Amazing, simply perfect. And their integrity with money issues was outstanding. Which is quite rare with private package tour operators I later found.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The Jungle Temple in Siem Reap

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Check the costs of entry into each country. Don't do all the temples in Siem Reap but do the floating village instead.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

It benefited local people due to the income but I am not sure that the environment benefited more than another tour.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Other than a few glitches it was a very good holiday.

Although we do encourage our guides to be as eco friendly as possible, I'm afraid in an extremely poor country like Cambodia this is not always their primary concern the desire to feed and then help their family is paramount. However we are in on going discussions with them to try to keep the environment as natural as possible.

Very well organised, flexible to my change in plans, and was extremely helpful. I have already recommended your site to my friends.
