Travellers on this trip have the chance to actively explore two very different and unique countries, and spend time in minority villages, learning about the culture and lives of these people. Local guides are employed on all treks in both Vietnam and China, as we encounter these different communities, to help explain as much as possible about the cultural differences and to help us minimise the impact of our visits.
The start of the trip consists of a 2-day trek in the rural mountainsides of Sapa, passing through villages of the Hmong, Tay and Red Dao people. At night you stay in simple traditional village houses with our friendly local hosts.
In southern China we spend a few days with the Naxi people in Lijiang, who dress in their traditional blue clothing and are famous for their unique musical instruments, songs and performances.
While in Northern China there is the opportunity to visit Beijing Huiling, a Chinese-run charity which provides support and education for young adults with disabilities. Lunch is provided and the students are always very excited to perform some traditional dances and show off their skills.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
