How this holiday makes a difference

Make your holiday in Egypt something to always remember – but not at the expense of the environment or the local peoples. You will stay in locally-owned and operated hotels and camps throughout this tour – not multinational chains which grossly over consume the local resources (electricity, water, and so on), waste food, and do not pay wages in any way relative to the exorbitant prices they charge their guests.

Likewise, you will have only local guides in the Western Desert and Oases. All of the guides on this trip are university graduates with whom we have long-established relationships. They are all eager to share the richness of their own local traditions and culture as well as delight you with comprehensive details on the history and the role of the sites you visit. As well, you will be introduced to the cultures and traditions of the Bedouin people of the Western desert. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity by asking lots of questions about Bedouin life, listening closely to responses, tasting a variety of food, and so on.

You will travel on traditional public bus transportation. When using private transportation the size of the vehicle is always relative to the number of people in the group. We do not use vehicles which accommodate more guests than are on the trip. All private vehicles are locally-owned and operated. By making the most of local accommodation, transportation, and guides, communities and native peoples derive a greater financial benefit from tourism.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

I changed plans when I got there and joined another tour going down to Dahab on the Red Sea. I highly recommend Dahab.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

I chaged when I got there and found out there was only me and 1 couple booked to go to the Barhariya Oasis. Check before you go how many are booked on a tour if meeting new people whilst travelling is important to you.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

It benefitted a lot of local people, too many people in Egypt just want your money.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

The pyramids are a must see and Dahab is a great place to go and chill out. Not the holiday I'd planned but it worked out ok.

Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
