Using horses for our transport means this is one of the most environmentally friendly trips we offer. In each area we develop close relationships with the local community; all our tours employ the services of local guides, horsemen and drivers, stay in locally owned hotels and guesthouses, which diverts important funds directly into the area. These are regions that have seen precious little from the boom in tourism, it is our aim to change this, and we feel the interaction between our friends and our clients offers both parties a valuable understanding cross-culturally.
The horses first came to the shores of Mozambique as a mercy mission to get them out of Zimbabwe. As farmers left their land, they also left their horses and thanks to one man who managed to herd over 100 horses across the border in Mozambique, they survived the journey and under the watchful eye of the team found a new lease of life on the beaches of Mozambique and swimming in the sea
The riding safari operation employs a large number of people from the local community to look after the horses, teaching them the skill of horse management and learning how to ride. The rides pass through the local communities giving clients the chance to get to know the local people and understand how they live, and to offer them support by buying local souvenirs. All food that is served on this trip is caught by the local fishermen.
As well as providing riding for tourists, the operator also supports the local community and offers riding for the disabled, bringing great enjoyment to the local children.
In addition, when you take one of our trips, we make a contribution to “Carbon Clear” – an organisation devoted to ‘offsetting’ or ‘neutralising’ harmful greenhouse gas emissions such as those caused by your flight. They work with hundreds of organisations to measure their carbon footprint, in an effort to then reduce their carbon emissions. This is done by funding projects across the world that will reduce greenhouse gases on your behalf such as through sustainable energy or rainforest restoration. We also support several NGOs around the world, such as the Hope Foundation, A-Cet and Adopt-A-Minefield, which are all carefully selected to improve the standard of living for the communities we visit.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
