Travelling with a local operator
This holiday is operated by a company based in the holiday destination and they will be able to provide expert local knowledge. They will be able to tailor make your holiday to suit your requirements not only concerning the dates of travel but also typically the standard of accommodation, and thus price. It is rare for local operators to be able to help with the booking of your flights.

How this holiday makes a difference

Our aim is to offer holidays for those who wish to discover the real Polish culture, history and landscape. During this holiday you will stay in the ruins of the 16th century fortified castle which is situated on top of a slope near the River Vistula. On the opposite site of the river you can visit another tourist attraction, one of the most beautifully situated little towns in Poland, where you can find lot of museums and galleries – Kazimierz Dolny.

Entry and service fees are charged at museums and galleries, where revenues are kept to support visitor services and facilities. This means that every time you visit a museum or gallery you are investing in its future and in a legacy for future generations. We use local transport as much as possible (small charter bus), not large coach, thus reducing our impact on the environment. Our tour leaders are trained by us in the importance of responsible tourism with guidance given on how they can make a difference. In addition all local guides used are considered friends rather than 'business contacts'. The idea is visiting as guests rather than tourists.

We try to educate and encourage our customers to understand and respect local cultures and customs. We also encourage our customers to learn a bit of the Polish language. English may be the international language of business, but here at a local level more respect is shown, and will be given, if customers make the effort to speak the local language – however badly or limited.

We encourage our customers to purchase locally manufactured products (eg organic food products, sculptures, bas-reliefs, paintings or musical instruments) rather than imported alternatives, and buy gifts and crafts from local shops.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The city of Krakow is beautiful, buzzing but laid back at the same time with great food and most interesting places to see and visit. The walking tour gave a great insight into the history of the city while Auschwitz was thought provoking but not to be missed. The Salt Mine is a must see - awesome. The good weather made the views from the top of Zakopane brilliant and it was nice to stroll in the fresh air.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

The organisation was faultless but it would have been cheaper to have taken £ to Krakow and changed money locally, booking trips through the hotel or one of the many agencies around the main square. We paid for the holiday in Polish zloty by bank transfer and got stung £25 on the transfer by the bank!

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Yes as all the guides are Polish and the hotels etc are Polish.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

A really enjoyable city break.

Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
