Argentina tailormade luxury holiday

Tailor made holiday
This trip can be tailormade to create a unique holiday for your individual requirements by travel experts with intimate knowledge of the destination. It is a more luxurious trip that will suit those who enjoy immersing themselves in new cultures and environments before relaxing in comfort in some of the best and most characterful local accommodation! Quality and value are the hallmark of these trips.

How this holiday makes a difference

All the hotels we use are locally owned and run. We also only ever use local guides. This not only benefits the surrounding community and boosts the local economy; it also ensures that our clients have a more authentic experience during their trip. In addition, our partner lodge in Mendoza was recently declared an ´Historical, Architecture and Tourist Heritage´ site, and part of the cost of your stay goes towards maintaining this status.

Our clients are also encouraged to visit the local artisan winery whilst at the lodge in Mendoza. This not only offers an opportunity for them to learn about traditional, low output wine making, it also provides vital revenue which ensures that these traditional methods continue to thrive.

As with all our holidays, our sustainable tourism policy means that all the activities offered during the itinerary are run in small groups ensuring a minimal impact on the environment. In addition, everything taken out on a trek or tour is brought back and wherever possible, waste products are recycled. £20 from every holiday we sell goes to support a project run by Regua aimed at protecting and replanting the Atlantic rain forest in Rio state, and a Rio based NGO which provides educational courses for the community of Vidigal – one of the city’s favelas.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Each part was equally memorable as they offered a unique experience from other elements of the holiday.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

None

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

It benefited local people in that tourism is a form of job creation, whether for a hotelier, chef, waiter, tour guide, driver etc and must benefit local economies. The holiday probably did not minimize the impact on the environment, but then again I am not an expert in that field.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

The scenery around Bariloche, but there were so many highlights it is difficult to pick out just one.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Well, the specific holiday was tailored for us (or at least that is what I thought) by the operator. I thought their selection of hotels was excellent. My tip for anyone heading to Argentina would be to learn some basic Spanish as it really helps understand the people a little more and allows you to fit in a little more easily.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Erm. Certainly all the hotels seemed to be run and staffed by locals using locally sourced produced and taking basic steps to prevent environmental degradation. My only view would be on how to cut down the number of internal flights we took. There was probably an opportunity to do this on at least one occasion.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Excellent. It's difficult to say it was "the best holiday I've ever been on" as there has been several unforgettable trips, but it was a great trip. Thanks largely to Robert King. I will be contacting him separately with feedback.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Our entire holiday was memorable. Colonia was lovely and the town was a very nice place to relax a couple of days before heading to Pantagonia in Argentina. Eolo, near El Calafante, was absolutely fabulous. The location, the accommodations, the guides, the food and wine and the availability of many activities made our stay there exciting, informative, and a highlight of our trip. We had a mix-up in Buenos Aires. Our hotel was only reserved for two nights instead of three, but the problem was solved quickly, and the hotel we stayed in the third night was very nice and well located in the same area as our selected hotel. The city tour guide in Buenos Aires was Mariana Feyling, a PhD student in history. She intrigued us for four hours as she explained the history and culture of the city.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

Staying at the tour operator’s recommended hotel in Iquazu is worth the higher rate. You are so close to the falls that you can enjoy them over and over at every time of day... and the view is spectacular.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Yes, as much as possible.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

The trip was a wonderful three week adventure. On our way home, we were already thinking about another vacation in South America.

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

It was all really lovely - diving in snow after hottub / sauna at a warm family-run lodge in Patagonia, great views from Fasano rooftop pool in Rio, monkeys at breakfast at the eco-lodge in Praia del Pipa...

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Not particularly. The final location was an eco-resort, which was great. I read of a NGO that the agency in Rio supports, but didn't hear anything about their work or see a specific name / percentage that they receive.
