All the hotels and lodges we use are locally owned and run and we only ever uses local guides. This not only benefits the surrounding community and boosts the local economy; it also ensures that the company’s clients have a more authentic experience during their trip. Our partner lodge in the Amazon is built entirely from certified, eco friendly wood and conforms to strict environmental guidelines governing construction within the state of Amazonia. All waste products from the lodge are sent for recycling and all sewerage is biologically treated in septic tanks and never reaches the existing waterways. As with all our holidays, our sustainable tourism policy means that all the treks and tours our clients go on during their trip are conducted in small groups by local, expert guides who place huge importance on education being a key factor in the conservation and preservation of the Amazon rain forest.
Part of the Amazon leg of this trip also includes a visit to a local craft centre where clients are given the opportunity to purchase local arts & crafts – again, this has an invaluable impact on the local economy. Whilst on the Costa Verde, all the produce used in pousada´s kitchen is either grown in their own garden or purchased from local fishermen or markets. The pousada is a big contributor to the local economy and is primarily concerned with maintaining the island’s idyllic feel as well as preserving the local environment.
£20 from every holiday we sell goes to support a project run by Regua aimed at protecting and replanting the Atlantic rain forest in Rio state and supports a Rio based NGO which provides educational courses for the community of Vidigal – one of the city´s favelas.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
