Travelling with a local operator
This holiday is operated by a company based in the holiday destination and they will be able to provide expert local knowledge. They will be able to tailor make your holiday to suit your requirements not only concerning the dates of travel but also typically the standard of accommodation, and thus price. It is rare for local operators to be able to help with the booking of your flights.

How this holiday makes a difference

Environment

Our treks are designed to take our guests well off the beaten path, to parts of Mongolia not reached by the casual tourist. In this way, our guests can not only experience these untouched and beautiful regions but local people in remote areas also have the opportunity to earn an income from protecting the local environment and providing services to visitors.

We use local rangers from the protected areas as our guides to support the preservation of areas with rare wildlife and wildflowers by providing a supplemental income to rangers who receive below-subsistence incomes and lack budgets for travel to visit the areas they are supposed to patrol. We also hire all horsemen, local guides and pack animals from the areas we visit. We also stay with local people where possible, bringing in supplies hard to obtain in remote areas. The accommodation charges for these family stay nights go to local families.

Community

By traveling with us you will help support people who keep alive and contribute to the livelihoods of herders and trades people in rural Mongolia. Because of our committment to responsible travel, all guides on our trips are Mongolians. The guide is after all the person you will spend the most time with on your trip, and we believe it is important that your guide be a local person in order to give you the best possible sense of Mongolian culture, traditions, and customs, as well as first hand knowledge about the environment, wildlife, economics, or whatever your interest may be. All our guides are trained in Leave No Trace Principles.

We invest a great deal into our guide training program in order to enable our team to function at a professsional level that allows us to give staff opportunities for promotion, and our staff is paid well above national average wages.

Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
