All our holidays have the same core 5 values:
- Carbon balancing
- 100% profits to charitable projects
- Environmental policy to reduce impact of tourism
- Employment policy to ensure 100% local employees on fair wages
- Fair pricing policy so that customers are not exploited
In addition, on all our trekking holidays free filtered water is provided to customers to ensure minimal environmental impact of use of firewood to boil water or plastic bottles which can not be re-cycled. We issue all clients with a rubbish bag - all waste items are collected in the bag and removed from the mountains so that they can be disposed of safely and responsibly. Where there is a choice we will only use teahouses that use renewable energy fuel stoves and water heating systems such as biogas and solar energy.
This trip brings economic benefit to the local Tamang people by using family homestays with those who otherwise live a very deprived lifestyle. We are working with local organisations to provide local training to ensure the "value of heritage" is understood by the local people and this is kept intact and maintained as visitor numbers increased.
Our group leaders attend professional training for Mountain Leadership and Mountain Safety & first aid training provided by KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project is a registered non-governmental organisation, working to support sustainable tourism in Nepal). We pride ourselves on paying wages higher than commercial organisations and limit the loads that our porter staffs carry. Equally the assistant Sherpa staff receive training in English language and eco-trekking.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
