How this holiday makes a difference

Co2 neutral is the way we travel; help off-set your carbon consumption by spending the day with us paddling and hiking to the magical places along the worlds most photographed fjord. This day trip puts the environment first. We kayak and hike because it is quiet and clean. Through self power we are able to travel in relative silence and experience sensitive habitats up close. Careful environmental planning and small, intimate group size minimises the impact of our visit while maximizing the cultural and wildlife aspects of the outing. Sustainable travel that benefits the local regions we work in is a key factor in everything that we do.

Economic difference
- Purchasing locally, to support local grocery stores and eateries, we also prioritise purchasing organic vegetables, fruits and meats.
- Recommending locally owned and operated accommodation facilities such as Hotels, Inns, Guest Houses, Bed & Breakfasts & Campgrounds
- We offer a free training and educational program for potential local guides.

Environmental Difference
- Carbon Neutral we utilise our own energy for transportation by sea kayaking and hiking.
- Our aim is to leave the places we visit as we found them. “If it doesn’t grow there, don’t leave it there.” We encourage clients to help us so that the next person can see the same untouched field of arctic cotton grass, the same clean turquoise water. Taking pictures rather than, for example, a bouquet is enforced.
- We adhere to the principles and guidelines of Leave No Trace - a US based non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting and inspiring responsible outdoor recreation. Leave No Trace builds awareness, appreciation and respect for ethical recreational use of wilderness areas as well as private and public lands.
- We have implemented waste management in the form of recycling at our base of operations in Geiranger. Through this program we have managed to reduce our disposable waste by 50%. We actively encourage all participants to participate in waste reduction and recycling.

Social Difference
- We contribute to local restoration projects and organisations. We contribute financially and by volunteering to the organisation Friends of Storfjord a local society that restores and maintains historic High Mountain Farms along Storfjord and Geiranger fjord.
- Our trips are cultural orientated with an in-depth orientation in the local culture and history of the area. We work closely with the local heritage centre and historians to provide a full understanding of the history, culture, traditions and people unique to this area.
- Our group sizes are kept small in order to adhere to the carrying capacity of this region. Size does not exceed 10 participants at any time in order to have the least amount of impact on the area and to provide for the enjoyment of our clients.

Day tour/Attraction Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
