The island's that make up Fiji have a variety of needs, and this program aims to address the specific requirements of the Yasawa Island chain communities; who in-particular lack the financial resources to address the issues and problems they face. In partnership with local organisations and the Ba Provincial Council (the area administration), the program has identified a number of key areas in which to assist these communities - sustainable power, water supply, and resource management education.
There is a clear need for assistance in these areas, in terms of securing consistent supplies of fresh water, provision of power both in terms of availability and generation method (often diesel generators), and working towards sustainable sources of income. In these areas volunteers will assist the project and the local communities, through practical construction, education, and resource management techniques. Through the invitation of the Yasawa Trust Foundation, volunteers make a practical and tangible difference to the lives of those in these communities.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
