Volunteer with elephants in Thailand

Volunteer travel - what's it all about?
Are you looking for an adventurous trip with a purpose, or on a gap year or career break? If you want to make a difference in some of the world’s most important conservation areas - and in community projects - then volunteer trips are for you! Volunteers tend to have a sense of adventure, and come from a range of different backgrounds and from all over the world.
Edward Abbey said 'sentiment without action is the ruin of the soul'.

How this holiday makes a difference

As with all of our projects our volunteers’ fees enable us to support communities financially and with community rojects. In the past we have installed electricity in the homes of two elderly women. We have constructed fish ponds, vegetable gardens, planted over 300 trees, helped to refurbish the local school and much more. Furthermore, with an elephant eating over 300kgs of food each day, volunteers fees go a long way to providing the correct food. Volunteer’s fees goes along way enabling to continue to support, develop and invest in our projects. Whilst in Surin city volunteers will stay in houses rented from the local community. Each house includes several bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and plenty of seating space. We do not provide food for our volunteers, but encourage them to buy from small restaurants and local market stalls.

This project includes a 3 night stay in the home of the village elder of the village we support. All meals are included whilst living there and volunteers are encouraged to help cook authentic Thai food. Volunteers are taken to the village on a Monday morning and returned to the accommodaiton in Surin city on a Thursday afternoon. Our Thai coordinators, who are available 24 hours a day, will advise volunteers on good places to eat locally, supporting the local community and enhancing their experience. We wish our volunteers to become part of the local community. Our staff give all our volunteers a full orientation to the area, showing them all local amenities: shops, restaurants, internet cafes, post offices, etc. All our volunteers receive a briefing kit which talks about do's and dont's.Our staff are always on hand to advise, help and ensure our volunteers have a positive impact. All our support staff are local Thai people.

All of our projects need financial assistance, help with planning, technical support and project management and we support where and when we can. As an organisation we do not print brochures. We minimise paper by using internet and email. We always support locally owned businesses, hotels, etc. We believe in putting back into the local economy and one of our key aims is to support small scale long term development initiatives throughout Thailand.

Holiday Reviews

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
