Responsible Volunteering lies at the heart of all our operations; we believe it’s the key to achieving sustainable outcomes and maintaining successful volunteering projects. By adopting the principles of responsible travel we’re paving the way to make true ecotourism and responsible volunteering work in countries like Malaysia. Using our home grown code of Responsible Volunteering we have developed our own policy in which we state our responsibility to our projects, our volunteers, the environment, the local community and the local economy. Our projects address actual local needs and requirements of the surrounding communities and environments which are based on realistic and achievable aims and objectives. Our projects are sustainable to avoid dependency, our volunteers work with, not instead of the local community.
We aim to provide volunteers with relevant and accurate information on job roles, our company, the destination and prepare them for life on a tropical island. We provide continual training and support through our team on the ground. We encourage volunteers to follow our code of How to be a Responsible Volunteer. We work to create a local economy through using locally owned products and services. We provide local people with jobs in conservation, giving them lifelong skills and providing them with a sustainable financial alternative to the destruction of their environment.
We provide training and education to locals on conservation, ecotourism and English skills, enabling them to develop useful skills and encourage them to protect their environment. We work in joint partnership with the local government and community to build long-term relationships based on trust and mutual respect. Our projects are long-term, helping to secure a sustainable livelihood, create local pride and avoid dependency in the local community. We contribute volunteer costs to local conservation projects, and raise money for them. Our local presence and cultural understanding allow us to create volunteer cultural awareness amongst volunteers and allows us to be welcomed into the host community.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
