The retreat centre is in tune with local Hindu traditions and adopts a no drinking or smoking policy. The traditional Balinese buildings were built from local materials and they fit in well with the local surroundings. We are delighted to be bringing tourists back to this beautiful island whose industry suffered so much in recent years.
Set remotely in a quiet part of the island, the retreat centre provides jobs for 11 people in the local area. All the food is locally sourced and is prepared by locals. All our excursions are done through small local businesses which generates revenue to the locality. We also donate 10% of our profits to tsunami affected areas of which Indonesia is one.
The nature of the holiday: healing and yoga, means we are bringing guests with a higher sense of awareness and we brief all our guests on how to be respectful in this very spiritual and cultural place. The retreat has donated money to help build a road to the local school and have donated money to all the local religious festivals. The centre was built by locals and with the least environmental impact possible.
Though there are continuing endeavours to introduce recycling plants to this developing island the centre handle the situation by not producing any waste. All food is sourced locally, therefore eliminating any packaging and the centre has its own well. The large drums of drinking water come in recycled containers, there isnt a plastic bottle in sight.
For every guest who attends one of our yoga holidays, we will plant a tree in a new forest we've started in Niger, Africa to conquer desertification. Guests will receive a certificate and will have the opportunity to learn more about the project and to monitor their tree, which will be named after them.
As of September 2008, we off-set the carbon emissions for return flights within Europe, and we off-set the emissions for the outward flight of any Europe to Asia flights if the guest offset the return journey. Guests will also receive a certificate for this.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
