Our philosophy:
As in-depth specialists to our destinations, behaving responsibly towards our suppliers and hosts is at the very heart of what we do. Our aim is to give our clients the very best experience of the destinations they visit whilst benefitting the local community if we can, and never acting to its detriment. Our philosophy is to support local economies wherever possible. We try to minimize any harmful impact on the natural environment and local cultures, and to encourage conservation wherever we can. We send our clients comprehensive information on how to act responsibly when they are travelling and what they can do to help local communities. We provide information on carbon balancing including ways our clients can offset their flight emissions.
Cuba:
We use excellently trained and educated local guides, as it is our experience that local guides with their superior local knowledge are best qualified for the job and the best champions of their local communities and conservation, concentrating on real life experiences, raising awareness of the difficulties faced by the Cuban people and acting as invaluable sources of information about everyday life in Cuba. We encourage our guides to provide our clients with as many opportunities as possible to benefit the local population and to encourage conservation. Cuba is arguably more environmentally aware than many of its richer neighbours.
Cuba is a special case. Most tourism, including small hotels, is state owned/ managed. People fortunate enough to be running homestays are better off and more privileged than most of the Cuban population, because they have the means to maintain the required standard of accommodation. However, the country would collapse without tourism and the population would be worse off without it. Simply by travelling to Cuba one is benefitting local communities, albeit indirectly, because all Cubans depend on the state for their food rations, free healthcare and education.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
