Environment
Our Table Mountain hike takes you right from Table Mountain to Cape Point on a 7-day hike which has been structured in such a way that it protects and conserves the surrounding areas – the flora and fauna – in every possible way.
All the trails that we follow throughout the hike will follow routes and walkways that do not damage, disrupt or harm the surrounding flora and fauna of the areas in any way. And all clients will be told how to hike (from the local guide) in a way that preserves and respects the surrounding areas!
The accommodation that we use along the way are ALL built on an eco-friendly and sustainable basis. They use solar power energy – to save the environment from the harmful effects of electricity and to minimize the effects that electricity has on nature. Another aspect is that the camps all promote an environmentally-friendly way of living – by posting boards and notices about protecting the environment etc around the camps. They even use ‘bio-degradable soap’ only in the bathrooms.
Orange Kloof Tented Camps is built using alien wood from within the park and embraces the philosophy of “touching the earth lights”…. By using alien woods they protect the local plants and allow them more space to grow in abundance.
The tour also includes visiting some of the National Parks of Cape Town – all the way from Table Mountain to Cape Point. The National Parks are preserved and maintained through the fees that they charge upon entrance. These fees (included in the package) go directly towards the maintenance and protection of these National Parks therefore enforcing the sustainability of these wonderful areas and the flora and fauna of these regions!
We also keep our tour groups small and minimal (4-12 people) to ensure the least amount of intrusion on the environment and the surrounding areas.
SANParks works towards the sustainability and maintenance of their National Parks – since this tour is run in conjunction with them – one can feel secure I knowing that all parts of this tour make a positive difference to the area!
Community
The guides that we use on this tour are locally trained guides that have been taught specifically by SANParks (South African National Parks Association) for this tour and hike. These guides know the area and have been trained to help teach the clients to look after the region and treat the whole hike and route with the utmost respect. They are also locally employed making sure that this hike protects the local economy by hiring locally - and not using overseas guides.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
