Yoga holiday in Morocco
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We encourage our guests to recycle and are working together with a local charity to help preserve the fresh water supply in the area. We encourage guests not to place linen and towels for laundry unless it is necessary.
We will plant a tree for every guest attending one of our holidays in our new forest in Niger, Africa. The tree will be named after you! We will also off-set the carbon emissions for return flights to Morocco from Europe and will contribute to offsetting any flights from other continents.
Community
We use only local businesses and spread out our business whenever possible. We give an introduction to our guests on local traditions and customs helping them to better understand and respect both the environment and the people.
We donate money to the High Atlas Foundation. HAF works to establish development projects in different parts of Morocco that local communities design and manage, and that are in partnership with government and non-government agencies. One of their current projects is to bring fresh water supplies to local communities. Morocco has one of the lowest rural water supplies in North Africa and the solution is Gravity Flow water systems, which deliver safe drinking water directly from mountain springs to reservoirs above villages, and then to home. We are on our way to becoming a Founders Circle member with the Trust. We also regular donations to The Near East Foundation for the emancipation of women and children in Morocco.
The accommodation employs a team of local sfaff to clean and cook. The transfers are all arranged through a local company. The maximum in any group is 12 and during your week there are a number of activities and meals that we have arranged through local businesses. We can take you on a guided hike with a local guide. We continue to bring guests to this area throughout the year, and importantly during the quieter time when tourism is otherwise slow and brings much needed support to the area.
