Fitness holiday in Scotland
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
Having spent many years running trips abroad, we decided to start running some local trips that were more accessible to our UK clients without having to take a plane. We encourage our guests to take the train to Edinburgh and provide a free transfer service to Loch Tay minimising our carbon footprint. Once at base, nearly everything is accessible by foot or bike.
Having searched far and wide we found a great venue not too far away. Scotland is huge and we did not want you to spend too much time traveling. Loch Tay is a stunning adventure sports paradise. We found an accommodation partner with a very similar environmental philosophy. The beautiful insulated wooden wigwams are so cosy and totally sustainable. They are tucked into the woods with Lochside views.
Our accommodation provider is highly supportive of sustainable travel and is working to become totally self sustainable. We recycle and compost and are conscious of our energy consumption during the week.
All of our meals a vegetarian and often non-vegetarians are surprised by how much they enjoy the food! We work with local and organic suppliers as much as possible.
Your coach has lived all over the world guiding in fragile natural environments and is very sensitive to the impact of travel on his beautiful homeland. We practice no impact travel and teach all of our guests to carry out their waste. We recycle all plastics, glass, paper, and compost.
Community
Community is a big part of this week. We generally have guests from all over the world but many of them have a very similar philosophy enjoying sustainable travel. This trip runs simultaneously with a Yoga Adventure, Multi and Family Adventure and we create a warm, nurturing community. The Outdoor Fitness trip is lead by a wonderfully charismatic Scotsman who loves his homeland and knows the environment, flora and fauna intimately. Along side Neil, are our local accommodation providers, adventure sports suppliers and chef , all locals, who we get to know during the week.
We create a special healthy vegetarian menu with our local chef so that we can make the most of local organic farms and suppliers.
We hire bikes and boats from locals and use local guides with a similar philosophy.
There are many optional activities available and we encourage you to use local suppliers for these. We charge no mark up.
We started as a commune of people interested in sustainable living in France and that theme is heavily nurtured on all of our courses and holidays.
