Environment
We operate a “No waste dumping policy” and all waste generated by our visitors is collected and taken out of the park. We strictly observe the prohibition on wood fires which degrade the environment and we advise against damaging the trails, only follow your guides closely and avoid making new paths that destroy the vegetation.
20% of all Park entry fees are shared with communities living in Park boundary Parishes in order to spread the benefits of ecotourism and generate local support for conservation. This is a Policy adopted by the Uganda Wildlife Authority and contributed to by us, local tour operators.
At the accommodation sites energy saving is a priority and energy saving bulbs mostly used coupled with solar power. We support efforts to keep green belts through planting of trees and encourages the use of only the marked trails in order to avoid damage to any plants/grasses.
Community
This trip is organised and managed by a 100% locally owned tour operator in Uganda. The company employs highly qualified but local staff, who handle the trip from beginning to end, giving valuable briefs at every stage of the travel.
The fees paid at Kasubi tombs go directly to the kingdom tourism board which manages and cares for the tombs and other tourist attractions in the Kingdom. The kingdom has several development programmes like BUKADEF which is a development fund for the people of Buganda. There is also The Kabaka’s education fund and many others that get supported by visits to Buganda attractions.
Accommodation is at Ruboni Campsite and Rwenzori Mountaineering services’ guesthouse, which are locally owned and employ many local staff. Most of the foods served at these places is locally procured and here one enjoys a true taste of Ugandan local dishes.
On each trip we employ an extra guide who must be a local of the area visited. We give a chance to the locals of the areas visited to be part of each trip by engaging them as guides. These local guides are an invaluable link to the communities from which they come from and they help with the language translations, cultural exchanges etc.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
