How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We visit and support the conservation of the National Park of Tikal. The park is also part of the Mayan Biosphere Reserve. By paying entrance fees and hiring local guides, we are encouraging the continued preservation and studies of the area and its heritage of wildlife, nature and ancient ruins.
Our style of travel ensures that as many local people as possible benefit by our being there. This Belize and Guatemala adventure holiday runs with a maximum of 16 people which helps to minimise the impact on delicate environments.
Community
At Lake Atitlan we visit traditional surrounding villages and are invited into the local’s homes, where we get a real insight into community life, which also bring direct benefits. We also have the opportunity of visiting and supporting a women’s weaving co-operative. Many Guatemalan’s main income is through selling crafts and produce, consequently, at Chichicastenango market and other smaller markets you can buy directly off the local people so that they benefit as much as possible.
