How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We offer accommodation and holistic adventure sports holidays and courses that inspire a respect for the environment and self. With us, you stay in a renovated farmhouse, thickly insulated and double glazed. We remind everyone to be aware of their energy consume and practice 'no impact' hiking. AWe recycle metal, plastic, glass, paper and cardboard and compost.
Travel
We provide a mini bus transfer service from the airport and train station for E25 one way per person and request everyone travels at the same time to reduce our carbon footprint. We select accommodation in walking distance to all activities for the same reason.
Community
We out source all of the sports and holistic activities (except yoga) to the best local guides and holistic practitioners. We charge no mark up or commission. We have a close relationship with all the guides that we work with and insure our philosophy of sustainable and no impact travel in the wilderness is shared. We work in a small rural community and many people make a living from seasonal work; guiding, teaching, instructing, so it is important that we support them.
All of our suggested activities have a low impact on the environment; e.g. white water rafting, parpenting, rock climbing, hiking, yoga, massage, etc.. Where possible we serve organic vegetarian and local food.
We only cook 5 nights a week, so guests can explore the village and its local restaurants for 2 nights. We do not provide lunches and guests generally buy picnic food from the local Wednesday farmers market and village shops.
We work with the charity Respect the Mountain to raise awareness about sustainable travel in the mountains. Our annual event often coincides with our multi-Activity Holiday so we will sign you up if so! We collect rubbish, have a fun BBQ by the lake and then go white water rarting.
