Yoga holiday in Scotland
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
The philosophy behind our trips is to create healthy, sustainable life enhancing experiences that ripple out to the world. If we all start making a difference in our own lives, we will start creating big changes. On our trips we are very conscious of living sustainably. We live side by side with nature in the woods by a loch. Sometimes we even spend a night out under these stars. We mediate under the moon light. We become intimate with nature and in so doing we increase our respect and care.
Everything we do from our choice of location, our accommodation, transport, the food we eat and the activities put nature at the forefront.
We ran a retreat centre in The Alps, but wanted to provide a more local and sustainable venue for our UK guests. We choose a wonderful place in Scotland with super eco wooden insulated wigwams. We encourage everyone to get the train to Edinburgh and then run a free shuttle bus to our venue.
We practice no impact travel and teach all of our guests to carry out all of their waste. We recycle all plastics, glass, paper, and compost.
Our food is vegetarian, local and organic where possible. Many of our guests are not vegetarian but after enjoying the vegetarian fare so much become more vegetarian once they leave!
Community
This trip supports the local community by bringing guests to a remote area that relies heavily on tourism. We looked far and wide for a venue that was really striving towards sustainable and responsible travel and found some wonderful insulated wigwams in the woods overlooking the beautiful Loch Tay. The owners wholly support our environmental vision. They are working towards becoming self sustainable and have a similar interest in nature conservation.
We also partner up with the adventure company with the most environmentally friendly ethos. We charge no mark up to our guests so all of the money goes to our local suppliers.
We are using a local chef and have created a vegetarian menu with him so that we can source as much as possible from local organic farms.
We attract a very International well travelled crowd but most of our guests come from the UK and we encourage train travel to Edinburgh and offer a free transfer service from there.
Our Yoga Adventure week runs simultaneously with a Multi Adventure, Family Adventure and Outdoor Fitness week. We create a strong community and all eat communally and often share activities. We started as a commune of like minded people living and working together and that theme comes across strongly on our holiday weeks.
