How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
We work with an authentic french Centre des Vacances that is used during term time to teach urban french children about nature and the environment. During the holidays we have the run of the place. The accomodation is simple dormitory style with many communal rooms and a communal dining hall. Our french chef is passionate about local and organic food. The centre recycles and composts. Nearly everything is recycled – paper, glass, metal, plastics (and compost goes into the garden) so we have minimum waste.
We run a daily shuttle to the ski lifts (4 minutes away) but we also encourage all of our guests to try alternative winter sports such as ski touring, cross country skiing and snow shoeing which do not need lift access.
We use the best local instructors and guides all of them who are very keen on sustainable travel and environmental awareness.
Community
We use local guides who understand the ethics of the ‘spirit’ of our philiosophy – we don’t conquer the mountains but flow in harmony with them! Our courses promote engaging in sport from the ‘Inside’ and a respect for the natural environment.
We hire equipment from local shops and encourage going to the village market on Wednesdays.
