This trip aims to benefit the local community in a number of ways:
- Marathon entry fee is spent for supportive activities such as artificial limbs, rehabilitation and self-reliance for land mine victims as well as preventive education of HIV/AIDS to juvenile.
- A part of authorized/cooperative tour fee (3,000 Khmer Riels/person) is used for promoting sport in Cambodia.
- Aims to give courage and hope not only to able-bodied person but also to the disabled through running together.
- Aims to express thanks for aid given so far through the marathon event and further calls for further support to Cambodia from all over the world to make Cambodia vigorous. The NGO Hearts of Gold coordinates the above activities, and allocates the donations to the different projects.
Environment
This tour is mainly done by running and cycling so limited impact on the environment.
Accommodation can be arranged based on your tastes/budget but effort is made to use locally owned hotels wherever possible. Meals are mostly left up to guest to arrange with exception to breakfast in the hotel.
We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
