Luxury coastal cruise in Western Australia
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
Through onboard education our cruises promote a love & appreciation for the areas that we visit. This appreciation is extended with our ‘leave nothing but footprints’ motto and is supported via the minimal impact nature of cruising. In turn, guest appreciation creates an awareness of how special our wilderness areas are and how important it is to maintain them. Our guests are quite often left humbled by the nature of our cruises and the respect afforded to our destinations. We do not rely on shore based structures in wilderness areas and we have little or no impact on terrestrial environs. Onboard waste is either processed via our treatment plant, retained for recycling or, retained for disposal in approved waste management sites. All activities are lead by staff that are trained to encourage minimal impact on the environment. The company promotes national parks and the protection of wildlife - we have detailed walking guidelines in place that comply with national park guidelines. We also make a significant contribution to parks & wildlife management via license fees & feedback. Transfers are provided for guests to & from embarkation/disembarkation points thus reducing the amount of transportation required.
Being a small local town our disembarkation point in Karratha helps the community in many ways – use of town services, purchaser of local goods & supplies, monies spent in the township from both guests & crew, post cruise travel services for guests, and marketing for future tourism.
Community
Our cruises frequently visit small & isolated communities. We facilitate otherwise impractical commerce, employment & cultural exchange. Guests consistently require pre & post cruise accommodation and are encouraged to ‘make the most’ of their stay with information provided on the local events, tours, restaurants, shopping etc. Our Kimberley cruises promote the local pearling industry and guests frequently purchase locally grown pearls. The company is a big supporter of all things local and strives to use local suppliers wherever possible, a commitment that now spans some 23 years! We employ young Australians as crewmembers. Our cruises can be seasonal however we generally retain staff all-year round. We also provide further training and education. Many of the destinations we visit are protected and require licences which are at a cost. We are also support local charities & organizations such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
No matter where we cruise we always provide information – verbally & written – on the areas that we visit. This includes culture, history, nature, wildlife and much more. The more information provided, the more guests & staff are inclined to appreciate the area they are visiting and thus the responsibility of maintaining it for future generations. We believe we are great ambassadors as we truly showcase breathtaking wilderness areas. Our cruises see nature at its best and we are proud to be able to share this with our guests whilst remaining ever-conscious of ensuring minimal disturbance. We are an Australian company & employ Australian crew. We promote & purchase local goods & services.
