Skiing and yoga holiday in the French Alps
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
Skiing does impact the environment with all the travel, the ski lifts and snow machines. Our ski area, The Grand Massif is making a concerted effort to minimise the impact of skiing on the environment but still, there are winter sports like ski touring, snow shoeing and ski de fond which have less of an impact. We encourage our guests to try theese. We also minimise travel impact by encouraging our guests to come by train or shared car, and running a group shuttle to minimise the carbon foot print of the trip.
We ask our guests to be away of thier electricity and water consumption and speak about carrying out all rubbish, recycling picnic bags, refilling water bottles, etc.. We recycle metal, plastic, glass, paper and cardboard and compost. Our food is as local and organic as possible.
Community
We source as much of our food as possible from local, organic farms and eat what is seasonal. Our accommodation is run by a French charity that promotes environmental awareness amongst urban French school children. Our chef is a french local. One night we take you up to meet another local, Ludo, for a fondu in his Mongolian yurt. we hire ski equipment from a small local business.
We are partners with Respect the Mountain and contribute to running an annual mountain awareness day.
