How this holiday makes a difference

Environment
Our office runs with the minimum use of paper with our main point of advertising being internet based. We recycle all our paper, printer cartridges and use energy saving lights in both the office and the farmhouse. We recycle our bin waste and use the available environmentally friendly cleaning products.

Our expert walking guides have empathy for the flora and fauna, knowledge of where and when to encounter them and integrity of stewardship to protect and maintain their place in the wild.

Community
We support local businesses and incorporate a choice of visits in our itineraries. This may include the local vineyard, garlic farm, Olive refinery, village shops selling local produce or restaurants producing regional food.

We donate and work closely with two local charities; Action for Animals and CAS (Costa Animal Society) both animal protection and rescue charities which help in the neutering and re-homing of stray cats and dogs with in Andalucia. We help with the fostering and re-homing of some of these animals, and are keen to make a difference by making people in local villages aware of the importance of neutering domestic animals.

Our Walking Retreats run using local experts of Mountain Walking, Wild Herbal Gathering and Local Organic Food Growing. We offer various excursions that are designed to educate and enlighten with knowledgeable talks on the history of Moorish Spain and the wonderful legacy the Moorish rule left behind in architecture and education.

How we choose providers

Walking holiday in Andalucia, Spain

Reviewed 17 May 2010 by Jean Pritchett4 star rating

1. What was the most memorable or exciting part of your holiday?

Walking is excellent - particularly because we were driven to the start of the walks by four wheel drive vehicle so we didn't waste any time walking on tarmac. Scenery is superb. Day in Grenada was well arranged and most enjoyable. Excellent food at the property. Good value.

2. What tips would you give other travellers booking this holiday?

You are warned that local roads are hair-raising and you need a 4 x 4 if you have your own transport . If you wish to self-cater, the shops are miles away. There are many animals at the property - all beautifully cared for, but people allergic to cats or dogs are warned.

3. Did you feel that your holiday benefited local people, and minimized impacts on the environment?

Yes - local people help in the house and Kritz is used by local people for animal rescue or for professional catering services. Food is locally sources where possible.

4. Finally, how would you rate your holiday overall?

Unusual, relaxing, and full of interest!
