How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
The company takes into consideration waste, energy saving, water saving and conservation in all aspects of their work, from office to steppe. By the very nature of the Mongolian traditional lifestyle, these environmental measures have been followed by the local population for hundreds of years.
The existence of non-biodegradable rubbish is a recent phenomenon in Mongolia and we do encourage our staff and clients to show a good example to the local nomadic people regarding responsible disposal. Our brochure and all information on the tour is available on-line, so the need for brochures is reduced.
Community
Your guides and drivers in both China and Mongolia will be local people with a good knowledge of their country and culture. The guides in China are employed year-round and given good training in all areas of their work. In Mongolia the tourist season is short (only June to September), but their salary is fair and reflects the fact that they need to support themselves and their families on only a few intensive months work.
When we hire local herders with their horses or camels, the owners are paid directly for their services so appropriate benefit is assured. The accommodation used is locally owned and uses local staff.
