How this holiday makes a difference

Environment

What better way to responsibly fuel your holiday experience on the Mediterranean coast than by harnessing the power of wind and water? With no engine sound and minimal pollution, sailing is an environmentally friendly recreational pastime. It is interlinked with, and invites an understanding and an appreciation of the natural environment. This relationship with the elements is perhaps one the most enjoyable parts of the entire cruising experience.

Whilst on board, soaps and washing up liquids should of course be eco friendly, much of the sailing world already practices an awareness in the this regard; we provide eco friendly detergents on our vessels. We also encourage our guests to take this idea on board when packing their toiletries.

Community

We supply each catamaran with a welcome hamper packed full of fresh fruit and vegetables sourced from and in association with Fruit Heritage Conservation. This is a unique local organisation striving to preserve heritage fruit varieties developed by local people over several centuries; to protect the ecologically friendly agricultural practices associated with producing the fruits; and maintaining their contribution to the local economy as well as food security.

Fruit Heritage is working towards maintaining these varieties so they may continue to be a reliable source of food and income for local villagers. Your holiday will support this campaign by adding to the demand for this wholesome produce, and hence encouraging local farmers to maintain the old farming techniques that are sadly in decline along with many indigenous varieties of local fruit. Please contact us if you would like more information on this project.

In addition, the operation at base camp employs local support staff and local captains who work alongside experienced international captains who reside in Turkey and train assistants and employees.

Story of the holiday provider

Serkan studied Drama at Bristol University then worked as a film maker in Soho, London, but his love of his home country, Turkey, led him to set up a tour company. His itineraries combine extraordinary experiences in weird and wonderful places along with the traditional highlights. Serkan hand-picks local guides for their genuine respect, personality and charisma, who don’t just regurgitate information from textbooks. He believes that the incredible hospitality, curiosity and warmth of the people, as well as the landscapes and history, are what make Turkey so special. These ambient holidays offer an opportunity to see the country through the eyes of a local.
