By nature, our riding trips have a significantly lower impact on the general environment by reducing the number of vehicles and roads in our concessions, thereby creating less air and noise pollution and reducing the scarring of the land. We use local guides, horsemen, staff, lodges and buy food locally, thereby directly benefiting the local economy.
On this trip we use a local riding company with a similar RT ethos to ourselves, which has a high standard of sustainability and responsible eco-tourism practices in accordance with the Botswana Ecotourism Strategy. This includes the manner in which camps are built, safaris conducted and the attitude displayed towards the environment and its wildlife as well as the local communities and the national economy of Botswana. As an example, the camps have a light footprint as they are constructed from canvas and plantation timber, and are mostly powered by solar energy. All electric lighting is powered by low energy bulbs, while the fly-camps make use of rechargeable lanterns.
When you take one of our trips, we also make a contribution to "Carbon Clear" – an organisation devoted to ‘offsetting’ or ‘neutralising’ harmful greenhouse gas emissions caused by your flight. This is done by funding projects across the world that will reduce greenhouse gases on your behalf through sustainable energy or rainforest restoration.
We have a strict environmental policy to make sure that the fragile eco-structure of the borderlands is not damaged or spoilt in any way. Our guides are trained to uphold this policy and all clients are fully briefed on appropriate/responsible behaviour whilst in wilderness areas. Our “Leave No Trace” ethic is applied to all trips in all regions, and as tour operators is something we are careful to promote.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
