The charity
This trip is run to support the work of the Lotus Flower Trust in Ladakh, India – they are a registered non profit making charity with low operating costs which means that the vast majority of funds raised are actually used directly in the project. Their vision is to "change lives" - the lives of children in remote and impoverished communities in India, by providing educational facilities to help break the cycle of poverty; and, perhaps, your life, by involving you as a volunteer and as a financial supporter.
The project challenge
On this challenge you will help in the setting up of a local Ladkah children’s home. The home is a residential base where children from remote village will live and obtain an education for 9 months of the year, the remaining 3 months they return to their villages. Without the facility these children would have very little education. Each participant is encouraged to raise a minimum of £250 to donate to this project. Building has already commenced and during your visit you will be able to actively contribute to its progression.
The challenge journey
We travel in small groups to minimise our impact on the environment and local culture. This challenge is operated in country by an Indian based company- it provides employment for local people and supports its own local projects. Accommodation is in small locally owned hotels. The challenge we operate is responsibly run and any litter or waste is disposed of responsibly. Your local guide and support staff are Indian people and will travel with you through out the trip.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
