By nature, our trips have a significantly lower impact on the general environment; we use local guides and staff, and buy food locally, thereby directly benefiting the local economy. In this way, our adventures are designed with the local people, culture, and eco-system in mind. We believe that are trips not only deliver a unique journey, but also benefit those people whose lands we are privileged enough to visit.
There are many ways in which this trip contributes to the local community. One such example is the elephant ride, run by villagers who also run a community project, which can be visited whilst on the elephant ride. It is important to note that the elephants used for this are well cared for. Visiting the local school and family on this trip helps to aid poor children in the remote villages by maintaining their education by providing them with school materials and lunch at a local village house helps to economically support the family that provides it.
Staff employed for Whale Watching come from Tsunami affected families, and are also taken on as partners in the business itself. They also run several community projects in the village, such as in the pre-schools. The whale watching itself is run as a responsible activity as it allows whale watching to take place without harming them or disrupting their natural behaviour.
The Eco-Lodge that we stay at provides work for the locals by employing them as staff. The lodge itself is built by the villagers, and from materials taken from the village itself, thus creates a strong connection with the local community.
When you take one of our trips, we also make a contribution to "Carbon Clear" - an organisation devoted to ‘offsetting’ or ‘neutralising’ harmful greenhouse gas emissions caused by your flight. This is done by funding projects across the world that will reduce greenhouse gases on your behalf through sustainable energy or rainforest restoration.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
