The island of Gozo is just 9 by 4 miles in size meaning that all the activities for this holiday are close together keeping motorized journey times to a minimum, any transfers are group transfers.
On such a small island tourism plays an important social and economic role. With limited work opportunities, many young Gozitans are forced to leave the island they love and move to Malta in search of work opportunities. The development of tourism is helping to stem this flow.
The hotel we use has been deliberately chosen as it is Gozitan owned and has an entirely Gozitan staff. The hotel also actively promotes Gozitan heritage as the central part of the hotel is a 350+ year old farmhouse which has been sensitively converted to keep its character whilst the restaurant menu actively promotes locally sourced foods and traditional dishes. This ensures that the economic benefits remain on the island and are spread beyond the hotel’s walls. The hotel is situated on the edge of Xaghra village, within walking distance to the main square where you can support a variety of locally owned restaurants and small shops. It is also the perfect place to interact with the friendly locals as it is very much a traditional village and not a tourist resort.
Our activity providers are truly passionate about their island. They wish to ensure, as do we, that the future of this pristine environment and the local heritage is preserved for generations. This is imparted to our guests throughout the week as clients are given a greater understanding of the heritage and culture, and what must be done to preserve it, in an active way. There is a strict leave no trace policy on all activities and clients will also visit some agri tourism projects throughout their stay.
The founder of this company gave up his job as a stockbroker who made rich people richer, put a tent and sleeping bag on the back of his bicycle and went travelling. When he returned home he decided to do what he loved best and retrain so that he could set up an activity holiday company. He believes holidays spent lying on a beach gently grilling under a roasting sun are all very well but the memories from awesome experiences in stunning locations, such as white water rafting in the Pyrenees or dog sledding in Lapland, will last far longer than any sun tan.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
