Alicante luxury wellbeing holiday, Spain
How this holiday makes a difference
Environment
Our accommodation is a purpose built hotel complex, it was constructed using the principles of Feng Shui. It has its own modern sewage treatment plant which supplies all the water to the gardens. The units are very well insulated so that energy consumption can be kept to a minimum, heat in winter and cool in summer. The complex employs an "intelligent" building system, iHAS, this turns lights off automatically and regulates interior and exterior lights according to the level of darkness again reducing power consumption.
The food served to our clients is, in-season, locally sourced and produced, unrefined, unprocessed and wherever possible organic, this means we can minimise packaging and support local growers and producers whilst ensuring our clients enjoy the very freshest produce possible.
In this region of Spain everyone recycles their waste, both individual households and business, glass, metal, plastic, paper and organic and garden waste.
All guests are informed and encouraged to be environmentally aware both inside and outside the complex, inside by conserving power and water and outside by understanding why it is so important to stay on the designated tracks when hiking or mountain biking, we limit our groups to a maximum of 12 people, not only does this ensure our clients receive individual attention but also less impact is made to the environment.
Community
The accommodation complex we use employs local staff and supports small business enterprises by purchasing their supplies from locally owned shops and markets. Our holidays are run by our own dedicated team on the ground rather than fly in ‘specialists’ to work with us. We are proud to use local people who make a world of difference to the success of our holidays; drivers, walking guides, teachers, doctor, housekeepers, cook’s and therapists. Not just because of the convenience of using local people, but because unemployment is high in this area of Spain where young people are moving out of the towns & villages to cities to find work. So, by using local people, we know that our holidays are helping to keep local families together by allowing them to make a good living by entering the hospitality industry. Our team love where they live and truly are the soul of the area, bringing genuine colour and a wealth of information that cannot be found in a guide book.
We are in-debited to these fantastic people but, in the cold light of day, we realise our holidays help to keep families together for, without this work, many would have leave the area to find work away from home - especially in the winter months when seasonal work all but dries up in the coastal areas of Spain.
