Who we are helping and why
We have paired up with a small but rapidly expanding children's home that caters for orphaned children. We are designing and running an educational program to be implemented by our volunteers. Before we started, no such program existed. There is a desperate need at the home for extra hands and skills to help deliver and run these educational activities for the children.
A rapidly expanding orphanage program providing educational programs to local communities; the program aims to fill the vacuum of educational provision, and provide educational services where none would otherwise exist, for some of South Africa’s under-privileged orphaned children and helps fund the running and staffing of the orphanage.
All funding of these projects comes directly from our organisation and volunteer contributions, included in the programme fee. We receive no other outside source of income, apart from that raised through us and volunteer contributions. Suffice to say, without this funding and the volunteer contributions, the project simply would not exist. These lessons allow children, would normally not have access to education and or safe home environment, a chance to learn and grow with love and laughter.
Our company
Between 45% and 100% of the volunteer contribution goes directly to the project, either by means of a financial contribution, investment in research equipment or project staffing. On average, approximately 70% of all monies received go back into running the field operations. If we are asked by a project to recruit professional staff to enhance the project’s success, we endeavour to employ experts from the local community. We always ask the project what they need. This is crucial, as many other organisations tell projects how much they will give them and leave them no choice. We give the projects the choice.
The majority of organisations that we work with do not have the skills or the resources to promote themselves within the global marketplace. Through our company, they are able to be seen by the wider world, to be recognised as valuable projects, give volunteers a safe and enjoyable experience and be supported by a steady stream of hard working volunteers.
