Throughout Kathmandu there are several monasteries housing hundreds of Tibetan children as well as adults who attend the monasteries and undertake educational training in Buddhism. Being able to speak and read English is a skill that can dramatically change the course of a Buddhist monk’s life, and this Teaching Assistant programme is designed to help Tibetan children and adults learn how to explore more scriptures written in English and thus to circulate the practice of Buddhist teachings to the whole world. Volunteers will be placed in a monastery where they will add an extra dimension to the teaching curriculum that occurs at the monasteries.
The in-country project managers, coordinators and language instructors - Salve, Sanju, Sila, Devon and Berindra – are paid local Nepalese people who are extremely devoted to all the projects that they are involved with. They manage all the volunteer fees, which ensures that every single project can be helped (financially) each month. As a result, even if there are no volunteers present in a particular month, they will manage the funding to ensure that the money goes where it is most needed, and that projects continue to receive aid.
Taking into consideration all impacts on the environment, we endeavour to maintain a zero-tolerance attitude to any damage caused by our participants at their respective host communities around the world. Our conservation efforts range from protecting and studying endangered animals, facilitating sustainable waste disposal mechanisms, and overseeing the care and upkeep of plant life. As a company, we are also very mindful of minimizing paper consumption, so when possible we prefer to utilise web-based communication.

We invite every traveller who books a holiday via us to send in a review. Because we don't run the holidays they're completely independent and unedited... remember to read between the lines though, as two people on the same holiday can have different views!
